T_Tronix 0 Posted March 1, 2011 I am upgrading my system and I am now looking for an affordable and efficient waterblock for my new i7 980X chip. Here is my old setup: Does anyone know a good place to buy PT Nuke and some new water tubings? I am also selling my old waterblocks: http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-computer-accessories-Zalman-ZM-WB2-Waterblock-MCW50-GPU-Water-block-W0QQAdIdZ262948946
Boulard83 4 Posted March 1, 2011 Any newer block are very good compared to this old Zalman bloc. I recomand you to throw your Reserator away since its Aluminium made and mixing metel ( CU and AL ) is very bad. Youll end up with galvanic corrosion. Buy a new Res ( plastic/plexi or similar ) and a new WaterBlock. Some good bloc : Swiftech apogee XT EK supreme HF Koolance CPU 360 Remember not to mix metals and stay with an all copper loop. As for the PTnuke, ive buyed mine from FrozenCPU ( i dont know where you live but Frozen ship anywhere i think). iandh also make something similar to PTnuke. T_Tronix 0 Posted March 1, 2011 But the Reserator is my signature touch lol...I heard adding silver coild in there will clean any corrosion. I'll do some research though prior to making any decision regarding the water tank. Heard the EK supreme to be a good block but its pretty expensive...The swiftech got good reviews, haven't checked the Koolance one yet. Thanks for the info! Boulard83 4 Posted March 1, 2011 Silver coil will kill bacteria and algea but is far from preventing corrosion. Ill say it again, dont mix match metals .... throw this reserator away. You have a 980x and your being cheap on buying a 50$ reservoir ?
T_Tronix 0 Posted March 1, 2011 Not cheap just like how big the reserator is and how its passively cooled plus nice looking...
Boulard83 4 Posted March 1, 2011 yes, a big piece of TROUBLE......
T_Tronix 0 Posted March 1, 2011 What would be a good watertank and where's a good place to get it from? Can I add several watertanks to increase the water amount in the rig?
1o80B 0 Posted March 1, 2011 Beleive me... Boulard83 isn't talking over his hat (dunno If I can say that lol).
Boulard83 4 Posted March 1, 2011 You dont need more water. The best and efficient way to cool your water is to add radiator/fans. You dont even need a reservoir, a simple T-line is enough to fill your loop. I personnaly use 2 MCres from swiftech. They are cheap and work well but arnt as easthetic as some other reservoir. Thats all about your visual need !
T_Tronix 0 Posted March 1, 2011 ok cool thanks for the info!
T_Tronix 0 Posted March 1, 2011 So guess I'll be getting rid of the reserator, I might go for 2 MCres from swiftech since they seem cheaper then most. Do you think that would be enough to cool an i7 980X and a GTX 460 card? I'll be OCing only the CPU.
Boulard83 4 Posted March 1, 2011 As i told, you dont need more water, this mean you dont need 2 reservoir. I have two, cause i have 2 loops .... Just get one MCres. Your MCR320 is enough to kool a 980x and a GTX460.
